I am curious as to how people across the country eat their french fries.
I myself like them salted and a sprinkling of vinigar on them. Malt vinigar is good but balsamic vinigar bumos it up a bit. Sometimes with a bit of crushed red pepper on top.
Rarely do I add ketchup.

Depends on the fries. Plain french fries get salt (of course), maybe katsup, depends on my mood. I will get an order of fries with brown gravy, that's usually a breakfaast thing and if they don't have home fries.
Curlies, just get salt.
Seansoned get salt too. :)
I do like them with chili & cheese, hmmmm. Now I'm getting hungry.

With fish, for me it's always malt vinegar. When I first moved to Washington state I thought it weird...a lot of people here eat their fries with tartar sauce! There's also a goop they call 'fry sauce' up here that, to the best I can figure, consists of a mix of ketchup and mayo. Never seen that anywhere else.
But with a burger...usually ketchup.

If it's fish n chips then yes, malt vinegar is the only way to go. Never thought of trying that with regular chips though
French fries. How do you eat them?
