LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 1563, as amended, Santiago. Immigration. False representation: intent to deceive: undocumented immigrant.
Existing law imposes various civil and criminal penalties on persons who falsely represent themselves to be another person under specified circumstances or for specified purposes.
This bill would make it unlawful for any person to falsely represent themselves to be a public official or public employee conducting a government census with the knowing intent to deceive an undocumented immigrant.

Existing law, the Unruh Civil Rights Act, provides that all persons within the jurisdiction of California are free and equal no matter what their national origin, citizenship, or immigration status and are entitled to full and equal accommodations, facilities, and privileges.

This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation related to immigration.
