AN ACT CONCERNING THE TRAINING AND AUTHORITY OF CERTAIN CONSTABLES APPOINTED FOR FISH AND GAME PROTECTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to allow certain special officers appointed as constables for fish and game protection to be exempt from the police training requirements set forth in section 7-294d of the general statutes, provided such constables complete a basic police training course that is tailored to the duties of such constables and administered by a police officer of the town who is certified under section 7-249d of the general statutes. Further, to provide that such constables may carry a firearm in the course of their duties if they are certified by a firearms trainer of such police department and comply with periodic recertification requirements.
Statement of Purpose:
To allow certain constables to carry firearms in the course of their duties pursuant to section 7-249d of the general statutes.
