       AN  ACT  to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to big
         game hunting in Chenango county
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  The  opening paragraph of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of
    2  section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation  law,  as  amended  by
    3  chapter  600 of the laws of 1993, is amended and a new item (k) is added
    4  to read as follows:
    5    Regular open hunting seasons for [deer] BIG GAME are established sepa-
    6  rately for the named regions or parts  of  regions,  or  named  counties
    7  listed in column one of the table set forth in this subdivision, and are
    8  specified  as  seasons for taking by pistol, rifle, shotgun or long bow,
    9  or for taking by shotgun or long bow only, or for  taking  by  long  bow
   10  only,  as  indicated  in column three entitled "Manner of Taking". Where
   11  taking of big game by shotgun is permitted by this chapter such  shotgun
   12  may  contain rifling in all or a portion of the barrel, provided, howev-
   13  er, if the barrel or a portion thereof does contain rifling only  shells
   14  having  non-metallic  cases,  except  for  the base, may be used. In the
   15  areas identified in column one except in the "closed areas" specified in
   16  subdivision 5 the game specified in column two may be taken in the  open
   17  season  stated  in column two immediately following the specification of
   18  the game, in the manner specified in column three.

   35  read as follows:

    4    S 4. This act shall take effect immediately, provided, however that:
    5    a.  the  amendments to paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907
    6  of the environmental conservation law made by section one  of  this  act
    7  shall not affect the expiration of such paragraph and shall be deemed to
    8  expire therewith;
    9    b. the amendments to items (f) and (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2
   10  of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law made by section
   11  two of this act shall be subject to the expiration and reversion of such
   12  items  when  upon  such date the provisions of section three of this act
   13  shall take effect; and
   14    c. the amendments to items (f) and (i) of paragraph a of subdivision 2
   15  of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law made by section
   16  three of this act shall not affect the expiration and reversion of  such
   17  paragraph and shall be deemed to expire therewith.
