GOODELL -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Codes -- recommitted to the Committee on Codes in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to peace officer status of special deputy sheriffs appointed by the sheriff of Chautau- qua county within the grounds of and properties owned by the Chautau- qua Institution THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 84 to read as follows: 3 84. SPECIAL DEPUTY SHERIFFS APPOINTED BY THE SHERIFF OF THE COUNTY OF 4 CHAUTAUQUA SHALL BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE APPEARANCE TICKETS AND SIMPLI- 5 FIED TRAFFIC INFORMATIONS WITHIN THE GROUNDS OF AND PROPERTIES OWNED BY 6 THE CHAUTAUQUA INSTITUTION FOR THE DURATION OF THE VISITING SEASON. THE 7 CHAUTAUQUA INSTITUTION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTS UNDERTAKEN BY SUCH 8 PEACE OFFICERS. NOTHING IN THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE DEEMED TO AUTHORIZE 9 SUCH OFFICER TO CARRY AND POSSESS, REPAIR OR DISPOSE OF A FIREARM UNLESS 10 THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE THEREFOR HAS BEEN ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 11 400.00 OF THE PENAL LAW. 12 S 2.
