SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 277
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the Texas Historical Commission in recognizing McBride's
  Guns, which has been named a recipient of the Texas Treasure
  Business Award; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious award honors companies that have
  been in continuous and substantially similar independent
  operation in the state for at least 50 years with an
  uninterrupted employment history and good standing with the
  state; and
         WHEREAS, Jack McBride and his wife, Mildred, opened
  McBride's Guns on January 1, 1960; through the years, the
  establishment has been known for its emphasis on superior
  customer service and its extensive inventory of firearms and
  other sporting goods; it also offers a unique selection of
  antique and collectable firearms and provides full gunsmithing
  services; and
         WHEREAS, The business has given back to the Austin
  community in a variety of ways, notably through the creation of a
  nonprofit conservation foundation dedicated to passing on the
  heritage of the outdoors to succeeding generations; and
         WHEREAS, The success of McBride's Guns has played an
  important role in the growth and progress of our state, and it is
  truly fitting that this exceptional enterprise be recognized for
  its resilience, its longevity, and its many outstanding
  contributions to the community it serves; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend McBride's Guns on receiving the
  Texas Treasure Business Award and extend best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
