R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
cause for celebration, and Laura Bennett of Plano is marking this |
|
momentous milestone in her life on May 20, 2015, to the delight of |
|
her many loved ones; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1915, Laura Bennett was raised with her two |
|
brothers and two sisters, to whom she was devoted; she was employed |
|
as a waitress, and later she and her husband became the owners of a |
|
restaurant; although she worked long hours, she always made time |
|
for her treasured family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennett assisted her sisters and |
|
sisters-in-law with their households when their babies were born, |
|
and as her 20 nieces and nephews grew up, she was ever ready to share |
|
her time or provide them with funds; caring and generous, she gladly |
|
opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay, whether for a |
|
night or a year, and she ensured that nobody went hungry, even when |
|
her resources were limited; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, "Aunt Laura" is the cherished matriarch of a |
|
large extended family, and the younger generations continue to look |
|
to her as a tremendous source of wisdom, love, and inspiration as |
|
she joins the elite ranks of those who can reflect on 100 years of |
|
life well lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Laura Bennett on the occasion of |
|
her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, Than an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Bennett as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
