R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe of the Nueces County |
|
Constable's Office lost his life in the line of duty on July 5, |
|
1925, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |
|
WHEREAS, At the age of 32, Deputy Constable Bledsoe had been |
|
employed by the agency for just seven months when he and another |
|
constable stopped to question four men they observed drinking in |
|
public; they were attempting to place the offenders under arrest |
|
when the men pulled out handguns and opened fire, killing both |
|
officers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |
|
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|
Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe, who willingly place themselves in |
|
harm's way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their |
|
fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of |
|
Deputy Constable R. R. Bledsoe of the Nueces County Constable's |
|
Office. |
