Amend HB 865 (house committee report) as follows:

(1)  On page 1, between lines 10 and 11, insert the following appropriately numbered subdivision to added Section 128.101, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, and renumber subsequent subdivisions of that section accordingly:

(____)  "Congressionally chartered veterans service organization" means a veterans service organization listed in 36 U.S.C. Subtitle II.

(2)  On page 1, line 18, between "licensee" and "and", insert "or a congressionally chartered veterans service organization lawfully permitted to possess firearms".

(3)  On page 1, line 19, between "licensee" and "takes", insert "or organization".

(4)  On page 1, line 23, strike "A" and substitute "Subject to Subsection (b), a".

(5)  On page 1, line 24, following "licensee", insert "or congressionally chartered veterans service organization".

(6)  On page 2, line 4, between "licensee" and "at", insert "or organization".

(7)  On page 2, line 5, between "(b)" and "The", insert the following:

The immunity from civil liability provided by Subsection (a) to a congressionally chartered veterans service organization applies only if the organization complies with firearms storage requirements applicable to federal firearms licensees.

(8)  On page 2, line 7, between "licensee" and the underlined period, insert "or organization".
