HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 293
Commending Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 26, 2015

WHEREAS, 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T., one of the fastest-growing and most successful crime prevention partnerships in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the first Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. (Seniors And Law Enforcement Together) cooperative agreement was signed on January 17, 1995, and two decades later, has led to the inclusion of 200 counties, cities, and towns in similar partnerships; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. partnerships are widely recognized for their innovative approach to the prevention of crimes against senior citizens, and the National Association of Triads, Inc., has recognized the Commonwealth as having more active Triad/S.A.L.T. partnerships than any other state in the nation; and

WHEREAS, each year Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. partnerships provide crime prevention information to thousands of seniors throughout the Commonwealth and help prevent instances of fraud and scams against more vulnerable members of the adult population; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. partnerships are busy year-round building crime-fighting relationships between older citizens and their local law-enforcement representatives and discovering new ways to enhance the lives of adults who have already helped their children and grandchildren grow and prosper; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. partnerships is due in large part to the tireless efforts of its senior citizen volunteers; and

WHEREAS, coordinated by the Office of the Attorney General, Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. has experienced remarkable success over its 20-year history, to the benefit of senior citizens throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. hereby be commended on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Triad/S.A.L.T. Council as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the program's achievements and best wishes for the future.
