Senator Flake of Arizona Considering Vote Change on Background Checks - May 7, 2013

Republican Sen. Jeff Flake told CNN he is willing to reverse his opposition to expanding background checks for guns if the Senate sponsors change on the bill's provision dealing with internet sales.

Flake said the only reason he voted no was because of his concern that the requirement for background checks on internet sales is too costly and inconvenient, given the way guns are often sold among friends in his state of Arizona and others.

Senator Isakson of Georgia Considering Vote Change on Background Checks - May 7, 2013

Capitol Hill aides Monday declined to identify the two Republicans who have approached Democrats about restarting the debate. But Sens. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) signaled through their spokesmen that they would be open to debating the background-check proposal again if Democrats make significant changes.

Health And Human Services Propose Changes To HIPAA Regulations For NICS Reporting - May 4, 2013

Proposed Delaware Law Requires Owners Of Stolen Firearms to Report In 48 Hours - April 29, 2013

Under new legislation proposed in Delaware, individuals who fail to notify police of a stolen or missing gun would face a fine of up to $500 for a first offense and could lose their right to own a gun as a second offense.

The bill was unveiled last week by Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, Lt. Gov. Matt Denn and Attorney General Beau Biden at the Delaware State Police building in Newark, Del.

Manchin To Reintroduce Background Checks Bill - April 29, 2013

Sen. Joe Manchin on Sunday said he would re-introduce a measure that would require criminal and mental health background checks for gun buyers at shows and online.

The West Virginia Democrat says that if lawmakers read the bill, they will support it.

Inhofe, Lucas Introduce Bill Limiting Federal Agencies from Stockpiling Ammunition - April 26, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Congressman Frank Lucas (R-OK-3) today introduced in their respective chambers the Ammunition Management for More Obtainability (AMMO) Act of 2013. The legislation would require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a report on the purchasing of ammunition by federal agencies, except the Department of Defense, and its affect on the supply of ammunition available to the public. The AMMO Act would restrict agencies from obtaining additional ammunition for a six-month period if current agency stockpiles are higher than its monthly averages prior to the Obama Administration.

Proposed North Carolina Law Repeals Stand Your Ground, Requires Liability Insurance For Gun Owners, Bans High Capacity Magazines - April 18, 2013

A 'mixed bag' proposed North Carolina law would redefine current 'stand your ground' laws to limit the use of deadly force to the home when a person feels their life is in danger. Another provision of the law would require anyone who wishes to own a firearm to first purchase a $100,000 liability insurance. Gun buyers would have to show proof of insurance before accepting transfer of any firearm.

Additionally the law would outlaw the sale or possession of any magazine that can hold more than 15 rounds.

Proposed Ohio Law Would Require All Transfers To Go Through FFL - April 13, 2013

Ohio represenative Tracy Heard has introduced HB119 in the house April 10th, 2013. The law would require all firearm sales to go through a federal firearms dealer along with a background check. The law also requires the FFL to maintain a record of all sales, something which is already federal law, and report and denied background check to inform police within 24 hours.
